Yep, you're right ^^
I don't think i will reach so much users at the same time soon, but i will re-think the structure, a common chat only for the users on the same map will be sufficient.

I may use Virusescu's example for broadcasting special messages... Anyway, is this the good way to send ...

Ok, so your idea is to keep the actual structure of my app (one room per map, and the users are only logged in one room), and simply use an extension which will broadcast a message sent in a room, to all the other rooms (without using the sendPublicMessage() function).

Well, it sounds great for me ...

I'll come back in a few hours to study in depth your message but before going to work i want to point out that i don't use onRoomVariablesUpdate(), but setUserVariables() to broadcast the position of users in the map. And i can't pass a RoomId argument in setUserVariables() as i could do with ...

Structure question

Hello ;)

I have an app where users can walk through a map (in a room), and also change map (they change room). My problem is that i would like to create a chat in this app allowing all users to talk together, even if they are in different rooms.

The basic idea i had is to create a "Chat room" and ...

My "map arrays" are sent to the client from the server, and there's no problem from this side. But i also have an admin "map editor" and i need to send back to the server these same "map arrays", just a few times.

My question is : is there any way to make a difference between the <MaxMsgLen> used ...

Oh ok, i've just seen the "MaxMsgLen" in config.xml ^^
Is there any way to make a difference between the message length sent by an user, and the message length sent by an app ? I would like to keep a limit for the user messages, but be allowed to save my arrays without limits...

Message exceed allowed max length

Hello =)

I'm trying to save 27x27 arrays with sendValues, but i get :

2006/06/04 14:32:55.634 - [ WARNING ] [id: 12] (SmartFoxServer.readIncomingMessages): Message exceed allowed max length! (19598 bytes) from > /*.*.*.*

How could i bypass the protection, or change this allowed max length ? In ...

Yeap, this one http://sephiroth.it/test/unserializer/index.php

I had a few problem of compatibility between this class and server code, and had to remove some "AS2 stuff" to make it work, but it's now ok.

BTW, is it possible to use a server based code without joining a room and all the user ...

Alright, i've found a classic serialize class for flash, and will do everything in text files... This way, my app won't be affected if a sql freez occurs :p

Hm... Yes i could do like this, and converting the datas in array with Number(). The problem is that my arrays are multi-dimensionnal (about 2 or 3 levels), so i don't think the split() command will be sufficient >.>
