I'm sorry I've been away & missed your request to fix my password file... if its OK with you, I'd prefer to give you a usercode/pwd in a direct e-mail (as opposed to posting it here...)

If you still think its useful, send me an email address and I'll send you the instructions

Thanks,

I think he's suggesting that you disable your avatar because
a) no one other than you can see it
b) every time someone other than you views a thread that you've posted on, they get a login dialog popup.

we're still in testing phase ... the combinations of browsers/players/AS-versions makes it pretty long and boring :(

Regarding the 843 port issue we'll provide a standalone server for that. So you can turn it on once and don't worry if you have multiple instances of SFS running. Plus it can be used also without SFS :)

Try checking this example -> http://213.92.118.83/connectionAS3/
and let me know if it works for you. It is expected that it connects via socket. If socket is not available it will try the BlueBox and finally fail if none is available.

I am just asking if you could remove your current avatar because it is located in a password protected area of your webserver and it forces the browser to ask a password each time we open a page with it

ps. = could you also check the above link? Does it work for you?

hey Lapo,

the stand alone policy server sounds great!

I tried your test link and was successful on both i.e. 7 and firefox 2. Both have flash player 9.0.115.

--> Flash Player: WIN 9,0,115,0 / Windows XP
--> SFS Client API: 1.5.4
--> Connection successfull!
--> Connected via: socket

great, if you have a chance to temporarily block your port 9339, try and see if it switches to the BlueBox

cheers

hi Lapo,

I blocked port 9339 and got

--> Flash Player: WIN 9,0,115,0 / Windows XP
--> SFS Client API: 1.5.4
--> Connection successfull!
--> Connected via: http

I assume that's the bluebox connection you were hoping for? Again, same results for both i.e. and firefox.

Yes, that's correct. It's the expected behavior.
Thanks for helping :)

We'll provide the results of our tests with the new flash player in the next days.

Hi guys,

I still have problems to connect to my application with the Flash Player 9,0,115,0. SFS 1.5.5.

I installed the policy file server which send the master policy file.

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy
  SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
<cross-domain-policy>
 <site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only" />
   <allow-access-from domain='*.domain.com' to-ports='9339' />
 <allow-access-from domain='smartfoxserver' to-ports='9339' />
</cross-domain-policy>
i see, that the flash player first wants the policy, the master server sends the policy back and then the application connects to port 9339, but a user can't login to the application.

What's the problem? Any ideas?
thanks

regards
froesi

but a user can't login to the application.
Can the client establish connection with the server?

Thanks lapo,
yes, a connection to the server is built up. But the client can't log into.
I send inactive user after some time back to the lobby, where they are logged in as guests again. Then everything is working. But the first time the user can't be logged in as a guest.

any idea?
cheers

nope, but it doesn't sound like it's a security problem.
The login depends on SFS.
A login can fail for a number of reasonds:

1. Wrong zonename: the server will discard the request. Double check if this may occur
2. Name already-taken... you should receive an error
3. Problems in your custom evt handler, in this case check your server side code

thanks lapo,

nope, thats not the problem. With the flash player version before 9,0,115 everything is working fine.

I've no idea.
thanks

Sorry if I insist, but I am not getting it.
Connection problems can be blamed to the Flash Player.
If you can actually connect to the server and the problem is at login time then we should concentrate on something else, as its very unlikely that it depends on the FP.

Could you report here the client debug informations? I'd like to see the messages exchanged between client and server and at what point do they get stuck

thanks
