Very cool release! alot of major changing compare 1.x version!
Just curious how the UDP working on this sfs x2 version? will It only involve on client to server communicate ? Do it allow developer to access and control how udp work on this?

Hello,
your question is not entirely clear to me. In general you will be able to send game data using UDP packets (datagrams). Of course you will need to use a client technology that fully supports Datagram sockets such as AIR 2.0 or .Net / Unity 3D.

We are scratching the ground for this release (geez), it is going to solve most of our problems.. when is it going to be out?

Hello, I noticed that the SSL support in x2 is not listed on the linked page. Is it still in that version? I found out that Adobe AIR 2.0 supports SSL now finally, so I'll have to wait until X2 comes out before I buy any licenses (if SSL is still in it).

Lapo is this release going to be just a .bat file or a full .exe program also will we be able to moderate what people are saying it each zone with out logging in to the game it self? and any release date for when it comes out?

Will testers be allowed to discuss features and such in the public forum? For instance, I will not be able to purchase the 1.x version since my needs (??) are met with the 2.x version.

Lapo I noticed it said "private beta" does that mean only a selected amount of people be able to test it? And it says its coming at the end of June, does that mean beta or the full release?

The announcement I read via that link says the private beta (preview) will be at the end of July 2010. The product will then be available to all paying customers.

Cool to hear some news again I can't wait to get my hands on 2x!
I have a bit of a dilemma now. My holiday starts this week and I was planning on creating some multiplayer games in my 2 month holiday.
Now ofcourse I'm not going to buy 1.6 now that 2x is on the horizon.
So what I was wondering is:
Is it easy to create a game now with 1.6 and then later on change the networking part to 2x? And then I mean mostly the client side. Or are there to many big differences.
Is the private beta also for people that use smartfox but do not yet have a license?
