Hi guys, so I have this curiosity, what user level needed to properly install SFS2X ? I ask this because I have a weird problem with Admin Tool.

So I have two SFS2X server running (on different machine). One is created by a non root user, let's called it Server A, and the other created by a root user, let's called it B.

In A I have problem like log is not complete (I made a thread about it here), and the Admin Tool while accessible is not showing any stat charts. While on B everything is normal.

So should I setup SFS2X from root account ? It's not very good practice, isn't it ?

it works with a non-root account for my test server (ubuntu 10.10)... just make sure that the account holder owns SFS2X server folder and files I guess (also the socket you are using must be > 1024). I will be running it on my production server as a sudo user tho, as im too lazy to set it up otherwise... not sure if Im failing to see the security concerns.. but really, whats the worst that can happen? Its unlikely the server will give an attacker a shell access and without it everything else is quite useless (bind sql server, if any to only accept connections from certain IP's, same as the sfs.. same as the ssh & turn the fail2ban / iptables / mod_sec ON)
