Which version?

Hi there, recently under the suggestion of a wiki tutorial I installed and setup SFS PRo 1.6 with Unity. I just found some other cool youtube tutorials but they are using SFS2 2.74 i believe. The interfaces look more updated etc. And there are features in the admin panel I dont see on 1.6. I am mostly using this to learn and sate some tinkering desires. But I would like to have the most functional end result I can. Right now, I am at the point to where I am connecting SFS to DB. And the tutorial I found SFSX2.74. Is there any reason I should stick with 1.6. Will the scripts I have for 1.6 break if I switch to 2.x? Pretty confused now. Suggestions?

danke

SmartFoxServer Pro (v1.6.x) and SmartFoxServer 2X (v2.7) are two different products, even if the are used for the same purpose (building multiplayer games).
SmartFoxServer 2X is the latest and more advanced product: we suggest to stick with it. You will find a lot of documentation here and video tutorials here.

So, I should start over, dump Pro 1.6 and go with 2x (2.7), This is the script I use now to connect to SFS Pro will this work with 2x(2.7). http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php/BOX1_ ... .cs_script.

Thanks.

No it will not.
The snippet of code you have linked refers to the SmartFoxServer 1.x and related Unity API.

The new SmartFoxServer 2X comes with its own API. The programming model is essentially the same, so if you have learned how to work with SFS 1.x you will find it very easy to move to the new version but you will use a different API specifically designed for 2X.

To get started with 2X take a look at our YouTube Channel:

And also to GenesisRage channel which has produced lots of nice Unity-SFS2X videos:

Oh, and don't forget the SF2X docs website :)
