When you minimize an Android or an IOs device using the "home button" (or whatever it's called), does it auto-disconnect the application from the socket server?

I am not an Android expert, I would suggest to test by yourself. It may depend on which Android version you are using.
I would expect that the connection is maintained. Under iOS it is.
