Hi ive been using smartfox for awhile now as the server for a game we're making in flash, each time ive updated the game ive had to restart the server using Putty and the sfs start /sfs stop and sfs restart commands, however now it doesnt seem to be working and i keep getting a message when i use the stop or restart commands that the server as not running but i get no error messages when i use the start command to say that it failed to start, could anyone help me with this please?

error messages are logged in logs/ folder
each log file name starts with "wrapper" and a date.
Check what's going in those files and let us know if you need help

I am getting the same problem. When the sfs starts, there are no errors, then when i do a sfs status, it says the server is not running. There are no errors in the wrapper log.

The platform is Linux

Any ideas???

Did you install the server with the provided installer?
Did the installation process report any error?

I used the standard install, which completed succesfully, without any errors at all.
The server is functioning itself with no errors or problems. What could be causing the SFS to start, using ./sfs start, without any errors, and then stopping straight away.
It is very confusing, and I dont see anything in the wrapper log. What can I check or where can I start to troubleshoot this ???

Any help much appreciated.

The fact that you don't even get a single line in the logs is a really weird
Could you please double check?
Can you give us more details about your system?

The server can also be started using the start.sh script that you find in the Server/ folder.
It might complain about "java" not being found. In such case you can simply create a symbolic link to the JRE included in the SmartFoxServer installation folder

What am I missing, and how do I fix it ???

I don't think the installation was ok, some files are definitely missing.
Open the Server/conf/wrapper.conf file

There you find the absolute path to the installation and you can check which file/folder is missing
