Are seats transferable

If I hire someone and pay for a seat for him, and then it doesn't work out, am I able to use that seat for someone else?

Or is it that once you buy the seat, you can't transfer the license?

Yes, the seat license can be transferred, but before installing it on a new computer you have to uninstall from the previous one.

I'm not foreseeing this, but because I'm using contractors, if an issue arises and we have to hire someone to replace one of the people we are currently using, they might not be so willing to uninstall the program.

Is there a way to de-activate the old license and issue a new one in a situation like this?

There's no way to deactivate the old license.
I think you should handle this as part of the contract: in case of termination, the contractor must uninstall all the software you provided to him/her.

Got another question for this thread. Lets say I have an OpenSpace license. I reinstall my whole comuter (or my harddrive crashes) without uninstalling OpenSpace first. Would I be able to install OpenSpace again or would I waste 2000 EUR if I don't uninstall OpenSpace first?

Yes, you can reinstall it on the same computer or a new one.
