Avatar moving

OS is great with avatar moving on stairs, slopes, ... But with some simple maps, no slopes, could I make avatar moving more natural ? I mean moving from one place to another place like "a bird", for example moving in game Diablo. 4-direction tile-base moving looks very stupid. 8-direction tile-based moving is more natural but in some cases it still moves like a zigzag.

PS : My English is bad. Sorry.

No sorry, OpenSpace is an isometric tile engine, and avatars are supposed to move on tiles, not freely.
