Implementing a tile with a changable skin

Hi I'm just starting with OS and I want to implement a tile in the world with a closed box skin that I can click and it will change the skin to an open box skin.
Right now I'm finding it quite hard to extract from the documentation supplied, how to do this.
I already have skins imported into the editor and I can make tiles that have skins etc. But how do I make a tile with a skin with multiple states that I can change at runtime?
I'm presuming it is similar to how you would make an Avatar with multiple states, but I can see no obvious interface to implement so that I can control a skin.
