Qilania is a MMORPG concibed for children from 5 thru 14 yo, although I've seen more than one 50yo folk playing compulsively (specially in the trivia game).
There are various "keys" in Qilania: ecology, a backend environment SIM engine, dynamic fitting to user's age (difficulty in games and so on) and a background script full of adventures and experiences for the user.
We have games, missions, tales, secrets, challengues, videos and many more things in the pipeline.

* Forgot to mention: we used SmartFox 1.x and OpenSpace 1.x, AS3, MySQL, PHP, Java and a couple more of technologies. Everything running under Ubuntu in a dynamic cloud server.
