You say that you want to see all the students in different scopes. That means that the data can be accessed and that some kind of communication takes place. If you choose to create multiple zones then you need to communicate between them (and as I mentioned above this practice is discouraged).

SFS doesn't require you to have a database installed. But if you need one - you can have it.
SFS2X has a nice dbManager which does all the communication between SFS and the database. You can look at the implementation here:

Can't connect to BlueBox
Hi everyone!
I've got some BlueBox problems.
Here is how I connect to the SmartFoxServer:
sfs = new SmartFox();
sfs.useBlueBox = true;
sfs.connect("some-ip-adress", 9933);
To test BlueBox I close the 9933 port on my machine and start the application. Everything works fine. sfs.connectionMode ...
