Change the tile in OS?

Post by Dorru »

Was wondering if it is possible to have a tile like this:

instead of this:

in the openspace editor.

In my opinion the first one gives a more specific view of where you have placed the tilenet in a map and it is easier to place everything out on the map..

Also, the first tile got a tile size of 62px(?), but when I choose the tile size as 62 in OS the tile gets larger than I want it to be...

I'm not sure I get it... is the difference the aliased lines?
The OpenSpace Editor makes use of the Flash drawing APIs to draw the grid, so the lines are aliased.
I don't get the difference between the two with regards to the map creation.

Yes. I want the tile to be more like when you draw a line in Microsoft Paint.. :P

Since the grapichs in my game are much more based on lines that you draw in MS Paint it's much easier to see where EXACTLY you have the tiles on the map background.

Could it be something that could be added in the next version? Since I find it kinda hard at the moment to place the tilenet correctly on the map background as it is right now.. :/

In order to obtain the desired effect, the only way would be to remove the aliasing. But in Flash you can only remove it globally, but this would make the whole Editor interface look ugly.
So this is a feature we can't add.
Anyway, I don't get the problem: independently from the grid lines rendering, the OpenSpace engine places the tiles in the right coordinates. If you create and align your skins correctly in Flash, they will be automatically aligned in the proper way on the grid.
