Serious bugs of OpenSpace

Post by Franklee »

Hello there,

We're facing 2 serious bugs of OpenSpace.

Bug 1:
When some users playing around in the map together. Sometimes someone will disappear suddenly from other clients.

For example: there are A,B,C three players in the same map(room).
A can see all 3
B can only see A,B
C can only see A,C

Meanwhile B or C can still walk around normally, they just can't find each other. But they can read the public message from each other.

Bug 2:
FIXED!
Sometimes when an avatar walking around the map. It was seen normally by itself. But by other clients, it stucked there, keep acting like walking, but no moves at all.

Found a new bug, Bug 3:
Sometimes we could even see two copies of same avatar in the map.
But one is alive, can move around. the other one not.
Could do actions to both of them.Same effect

Hopefully you can find these bugs out and solve them asap.

Thank you!

the second bug is a known bug, hoping they will fix it in the second release.
The first bug, well I had something similar, but I never investigated about the causes so I'm not sure it was really related to OS.

well, you can be sure it's really related to OpenSpace now.
Coz I met the same problem(bug1) when I try the official demo.

Can anyone official give us the estimate time when it could be fixed?

Bug 2 was investigated and an update that should fix it is available. Please drop us an email and we will send it so you can test it.
Bug 1 was never reported before, and we are not able to reproduce it. Do you have an example and a list of actions allowing us to debug the problem?

Hi Bax,

I don't think the last update fixes it.

About bug1, we'll provide more details how to reproduce it.

We need you to provide more details on the problem, and possibly the steps to reproduce it, because we are unable to cause this behavior in our test environment.
We need to know all your OpenSpace settings, application default framerate, errors in the Flash console, actions you were performing and an example of your application that we can test.
Please contact us by email. Thank you.

bug 1

About the first bug, not sure if it's - but if you are using TRIAL version check if openSpace logo is fully visible, otherwise it will randomly shut down openSpace(the demo version checks this in time intervals). Then it will act as you describe, the user is not visible(because some of the OS variables are cleared) but in fact he is still logged in smartFox so you could see public messages if you don't use the bubbles attached to avatars.

About the second bug, I've had it too, didnt try the update because we didnt buy OS yet ;-)

About the first bug, we're using the purchased license of OpenSpace. Not sure what's the reason exactly yet. We can continue discussing here.

The second was occoured when received a move action package from other client and the same time screen started scrolling. It has been fixed hours after we told them how to reproduce the bug. Thanks to the development team.

Hope they can find and fix more bugs asap , then OpenSpace will be a really nice engine!

As reported by Franklee, bug 2 was fixed. The avatar being stuck on a tile was caused by a synchronization problem in the avatar path on different clients, which was caused by an unexpected event that sometimes was fired by the tween controlling the tile-to-tile avatar movement.
A new version (1.0.3) has been made available (only commercial version.. trial version not updated yet): customers can use their download links to get it.

As it regards bug 1 and 3 we are not able to reproduce them at all, and haven't been reported by other customers. If anyone has more informations, they are welcome.
