Post by Xelius »

I'm using Admin Tool v1.3.0 with Smartfox Pro v1.4.0. I can remotely load and edit the Config.xml, but the extensions wount load, any ideas why?

At my side, if extension doesn't load, it's that there is an arrer at compiling the AS.
For that I always trace something at init() to see if it's ok :)

I'm not trying to compile it, just edit it, which I think the Extensions tab in the admin tool is for. It's kind of annoying to have to send the .as file to my friend who's hosting the server every time I need to update it.

I'm not sure... but from what I know, if an extension is shown in the admin tool then it's loaded on the server, eigther attached to a zone or attached to a room. If it's loaded, then it means it's compiled. If there's an error, then it won't compile, so it won't save.

I usually test my extensions on my local computer where I have the developing edition of SFS for, well, developing :). Only after I make successfull changes to the extension I upload it.

Hope this helps

As always I have a way of expressing myself that creates missunderstandings.
Basicly I want to be able to edit the extensions remotely from the Admin Tool, just like with the Config.xml, that's what I thought the Extensions tab was for. All I get is a blank screen and the loading bar in the admin panel shows that it's trying to load the file. Maybe I was wrong and this isn't possible?

Thanks allexiel for taking the time to prove that it actually should work. :P
I noticed now that I get a message in the log when I try to load a file, it says "UTF8 file!".

EDIT:
Problem solved. I opened the .as with notepad and saved it as ANSI instead of UTF8. No idea how it got turned into UTF8 in the first place. :?
Thanks for your support, I appreciate it. :)

Yep, that's right... we've noticed the same problem when the file is saved as "UTF-8 with BOM" format

We'll add support for that file format in the next release
