Better readability for the config.xml in AdminTool

Post by Vic »

Right now there's no wordwrap or multiline. All config settings are on one line. Thereby you can't search for a property.
Not very user-friendly & readable.

it has nothing to do with the code itself :-)

your "code viewer" is the problem, i.e. notepad has options for wordwrap and multilines.
Smartfox's forum is my daily newspaper.

The AdminTool should show the config correctly.
Anyways the AdminTool view is only recommended for quick code changes of the last minute.
For any "serious" editing you should use a good code editor such as TextMate on the Mac or NotePad++ on Windows (which is free)

don't want to be a smart ass :-)
but if it's meant for quick code changes, you won't quickly change it if the whole config.xml file is on one line.

That's not being a smart ass :) I perfectly understand... what I don't understand is why this is happening. The current version of the Admin Tool does not have problems reading files with different line endings (Mac, Unix and Windows)

What Server version do you use? What version is the Admin Tool?

Thanks

SmartFoxServer PRO 1.6.3
AdminTool 1.4.0

To be sure everything is saved on one line,
I entered newlines myself directly in the textarea but they were removed after the save.
Copy/paste from an editor gives me the same result.

kind regards

It's very weird. We've never seen this before and I am not able to reproduce it.
Maybe the file got broken in another editor, I can't say :(

Could be the solution

I think admin tool might be invoking toXMLString method, to remove extra spacing and format the text as XML. So, this should be the desired behaviour.
