Is it possible to run multiple versions of smartfox server?

I have been asked to develop a game in smartfox server, and I have started work on it using the smartfox server pro 1.6 and as3.

I have just been told by the client that they are planning on using theoworld chat, which requires smartfox server 1.4 (http://forums.smartfoxserver.com/viewtopic.php?t=1594)

My question is:

1) is it possible to run two versions of smartfox server on the same machine (and is this a bad thing?) 1.4 AND 1.6

2) Is that all counted as part of the same license.

yep, unfortunately TheoChat still uses actionscript 1 and they haven't upgraded the client part to support at least AS2

I wouldn't recommend to use the old 1.4 version as we have added so many enhancements...

I would recommend to check OpenSpace instead, which is fully AS3-powered and integrated with SFS

a) yep I can use two versions of smartfox server on the same machine
b) yep The license covers both versions running at once
c) a) and b)

I would love them to use openspace, but I am but the hired help and I believe they are already deep into theo land.
I however when it comes to MMO cannot Wait to play with openspace.

If it is possible to install two versions is it simply a matter of installing into two different folders / setting up as separate services / binding to different ports.

You can definitely run two instances on the same machine with one license because the license its bound to the IP address, which in this case is the same.

What I don't get is... are we talking about two different client apps? One talking to SFS 1.4 and one to 1.6? If so, okay you can go ahead without problems.

You can definitely run two instances on the same machine

Having problems with running two instances and h2 database connection.

Is setting <H2EnginePort> tag a right thing to do? Are there any instructions or maybe samples how to configure SFS (or two different SFS installations) to run two server instances simultaneously?

Hello.
I also would like to run 2 SFS applications on the same computer (same IP) to manage 2 different projects. I would use SFS 1.6.
Lapo, you mentioned that we could do it with 1.6 and 1.4, but I guess I can also do it with 2 SFS 1.6. Am I right?

In such case, I'd have to use 2 different ports, right?
One port is 9339. Any suggestion for the second port?
