NOTES for Windows Vista / Windows 7 users:
Installing SmartFoxServer under the C:\Program Files\ path will not allow you to modify the configuration and example files, as Windows requires administrator privileges to modify any file under that path.
If you intend to open and edit the example files you will have to move them to a directory under your home folder to avoid problems with write privileges.
Our suggestion is to install the whole SmartFoxServer package under your home folder to avoid any of the aforementioned issues.

I had the exact same problem as you and was a little ehhish with no reply on this post. So once I did figure it out 10-minutes later I decided "I'm going to make an account and help this dude out! XD" which is you
First off your going to have to uninstall everything and if you still have the installation files re-install if not re-download. (only 20 MBS) - simply hit next and then you will see an install button and a BROWSE and to the side of the browse is C:/ProgramFiles/SmartFoxServer or something :l - You simply have to not use C:/ProgramFiles that has to change find an alternative route to your desktop there are ways XD. install the program onto your desktop go in hit start and you will see it green and it will run without problems. (no need to add admin rights to it)
Note: I'm on Windows 7 64 Ultimate!
Hope I wasn't too confusing, simply put just do not install in C:/ProgramFiles change it to something else :l then locate where you installed
