Ok, the answer will probably be no, but here goes nothing...
I'm in the design phase of a multiplayer shooting game in flex, where each player controls a squad of avatars/sprites/whatever. Chatting will be available, but we're not talking about a virtual world like the ones openspace is targeting. I've been looking into as3isolib and push button but I keep thinking I'll want to use SFS2X for the back end, so openspace might save some time there. But it seems to me like I would be spending a lot more time (and money, since I would need to work on the source code) trying to get openspace to do something it's not meant to do. So all the benefits of the out-of-the-box integration with SFS will be outweighed by the effort required to squeeze a game out of a virtual world engine.
So, do you think it's worth a try?
Is openspace a good idea for this?
Actually it is hard to help. We don't want to sell you something (in particular if expensive like the OS source code) if you don't need it. What you want to create is out of the scope of OpenSpace, but if you want to create something with similar features from scratch, put many months into account.
What we can say is that the source code of OS is quite well organized and it can help you in your task, but it will require a major rework for sure.
The decision is yours...
