Client and server side extension rewritiing for SFS 2

Post by mihairaulea »

Hello,

I was wondering if a conversion from SFS 1.6.6 to SFS 2.x would take a long time?
I mean, is the API for 1.x very different from 2.x?Would you recommend rewriting the application?

Thx

Depends on how much logic you got on the server, how far you are, if SFS2X has features you need/want etc.

So the only one capable of answering the question is you :-)

Indeed, its hard to answer you question. At clients side its pretty easy to refactor however at server side it can get from easy to down right not worth it. ;)

You know at first, in terms of server side.. i was this | | close to giving up and sticking with 1.6.9. However, with some persistence and with a few tidbits of some helpful guidance from folks around the forums things falled into place and now I can see the real benefit from using java. (Mainly for its object oriented goodness).

My advice is to look through the documentation, Lapo put together a nifty new section and I suggest reading through that. Also, look at the API javadocs and see how things are connected. Studying that certainly helps but stick it out and you'll see the light soon enough.
