Kick !

Post by GolceaVlad »

Hi guys,

First of all I need to thank you for all your support so far :) . RjGTav and BigFish you guys rock, keep it up !

1) Secondly I'd like to ask what is the best way to kick someone, a) from the rooms, and b) from the server ( in case I am banning him ) .

2) Also I'm using a friends table made by myself. What are the ups and downs to using buddy list as a difference from my own table in my peronalised db ?

Well, I don't understand very well the "kick from the rooms" part, but i will consider that you're asking which way is more secure to kick. If that, so the best way to kick a player is always by using a Zone-level server-side extension or the adminTool, as in the extension you can check if the sender of the request is really a moderator. by using if(user.isModerator()).
For more information you can check the kickUser() method in the Serverside AS API: http://www.smartfoxserver.com/docs/docP ... kUser.html

Hum... I've always used the default buddyList database, so I can't help much here, sorry. Maybe the ups are that you can organize it the way you prefer, you can add more features, etc. Right now i can't remember of any down...
