Java x AS extensions

Post by hostcgs »

Hello,
I am begging to develop my server side extensions and there raised some questions wheter to use Java or AS extensions.

Is there any difference of functionalities?
I mean, is there something i can accomplish with java and cant with AS?

Is there such a BIG difference on performace?

On a testing enviroment user cant really tell this performace issue with AS, my question if on a production enviroment with 1000 users it will make a difference?

Thanks in advance !

Hello,

This has been discussed before.

Personally, I would recommend going for java extension. Developing one with NetBeans or Eclipse is like a piece of cake due to code hint, real-time syntax/error check, code navigating and so on. Also, whenever an exception occurs, it is much easier to track down the error using java extension as the line numbering will match.
