handle webservice call timeout in handleRequest

Hi!
We have a problem.
We have more than 1 command that call a webservice function.
Let's say that, for any reason, the web service has a lag of 10 seconds.
How can I handle the fact that this lag will stop the message queue to be processed correctly during this period of time?

i'm thinking about creating a task scheduler for each user at login and use it to handle webservice call from another thread, but i'm not sure this is the best solution
