[help] add new zone?

Post by htpeng »

I added new zone at Zone Configurator panel, but it doesn't appear in Zone Monitor list, though it sure listed in Zone Configurator panel.
That's the way to add new zone I thought, or am I doing it wrong?

please kindly reply.

Hi.
Well, when you created your Zone, if it was successful, then it should be listed in the Zone Configurator. If so, then I believe that its name is greyed out, with a "play" button on the right side of the name. In that case, please click the play button, and it will start the Zone. The server doesn't automatically start the newly configured Zones, just in case you wanted to just configure them, and not making them available.
Otherwise, you can always simply restart the server, and it will create all the configured zones.

thanks for the answer.
I've read it somewhere in the tutorial similar to what you say.
And I did try it last night, but I couldn't see any play button.

[OOT]
Now that I'm going to check it once again, but I got a new problem. I can't enter Administrator Panel, it says unable to connect to port:9933.
Seems like it doesn't recognize my username/password (but, I'm sure I connected using them last night). And I do didn't change any port settings. Really don't know what to do now.

Please help me.
And sorry for OOT.

- thanks before

I've reinstall my smartfoxserver due to that 'unable to connect' , and now it works as before. :|

Back to the zone problem, I've checked it. And I can't find any play button, the name isn't greyed out too. But yes, it's listed in Zone Configurator.
What should I do? :(

Make sure there are no errors logged by the server when you start it, which might prevent the new zone to be loaded.
If it is loaded successfully, then it should also be visible in the Zone Monitor.

Thanks for the answer. But, actually it still has no play button.
I don't know is it just me or not, but I have to restart my computer in order to make it visible in Zone Monitor.

That is how it works. When you create a new Zone (configure it and submit it to the server), it isn't launched immediately, in fact its name is grayed out in the Zones list. Unless you are using an old version of SFS2X, a small round button is displayed near the Zone name in the list. Clicking it lunches the new Zone without requiring a SFS restart. On older versions your only option was to restart SmartFoxServer to launch the new Zone.

hi,

just go to your zones folder in your sfs installation directory after you created the zone(lets say name = "myzone" in zone configurator and clicked submit button.

if you see a file like myzone.zone.xml in the folder then your zone was created. just reboot your server. if it does not appear in the list still, go to the logs folder, if there was really some problem while loading the "myzone" xml file then there will be a trace in the latest txt file in the logs folder .restart the server. just after starting the server please see the latest log file in the logs folder and if you could paste it or attach it here it would help as it will contain a trace explaining what went wrong during zone creation.
