SFS stopped working

Hi,
The server was working very fine for the last few month but suddenly it got stopped and our website was working but SFS server was not working and we made a manual restart of the SFS to make it work again. We are not able to fine out why suddenly this has happened.
Do any one have an idea in what case the SFS might get stopped or hanged. Also is there any way to identify automatically the down of the server and restart automatically.

Hello.
Well, maybe the server runned out of resources? I suggest you to check the logs and to monitor the server with a tool like VisualVm.
To check if the server is running or not, I suggest you to create a webservice which in a determined time interval tries to connect to the server. If it can't connect to the server, you call a command for restarting the server.
