Is it possible to automaticly start the server on reboot of a debian sarge linux system? Maybe to put the shell-script in a particual place?

yes it is possible with the latest 1.3.0 version (Basic and Pro)
The new version for Linux comes with a simple installer and does not need the Java Runtime anymore.
We've actually embedded the JRE in the package to make it easier to setup everything without the hassle of configuring the JRE.
About starting SFS at boot time we provide instructions in our online docs >> http://www.smartfoxserver.com/docs/
Check chapter 1.3, Linux section where it talks about "Installing SmartFoxServer as a Linux daemon"
We've tested it under RedHat, Mandrake and Ubuntu (which is derived from Debian)

The server runs fine, on debian Sarge. It's only the demo version though.
I've read the the new docs...
I'm not sure what my runlevel is. There are 6 rcX.d folders and one that is called rcS.d.
It's not my server (but I'm granted root access). I hate to try anything without knowing what will happen.
I could surf the internet reading about runlevels and linux (i will), but do you perhaps know how to determine that runlevel?

99% of the times you're running runlevel 3 (no graphic UI, terminal only) or runlevel 5 (with GUI)
Try typing "runlevel" in the terminal and see what it says
