[Help] Stop Multiple Connections...

Post by reecedogcp78 »

Hello I am having some issues with smartFoxServer "Hacking",

I have a person who has created a file that allows him to log in and out again a lot of times.

Over time as I am using sfs pro free My maximum users limit is reached and Users can no longer access my game.

Is there any way to prevent an attack like this?

You could restrict the number of connection per ip address by indicating a value for <[ur=http://www.smartfoxserver.com/docs/docPages/config/advanced.htm#2l]IpFilter[/url]>. But bear in mind that this have some undesired effect. If you specify '1' for IpFilter, only one user within the entire local network will be able to connect to your server.

Some other possible ideas that I haven't tried yet:
- Use browser session to control no. of login. But what if you open multiple instances of the browser.
- Use cookie to control no. of login. User can of course disable cookies..

Other solutions:
- upgrade your license
- ban the IP address (but what if it was a public computer or a computer within a local network?)

There's no prefect solution. Maybe one day when IPv6 replaces IPv4 - where each computer within a network could have their own IP address.
