Nexus S cannot connect?

I am able to connect to my smartFoxServer on my computer but am unable to while running on my phone. I used the ip returned by ipconfig on my computer and also tried the ip from http://www.whatismyip.com/ Anyone else have issues with being able to connect on emulator, but not on an actual phone?

ah it was because of being behind a router. I turned wifi on, connected to the router and my ipconfig address worked fine.

I have my wifi on, but the problem is still there...
