Path Calculation

Since moving to Openspace v2, we noticed a significant slowdown in an avatar responding to a click. Looks like the path calculation is pretty slow. We have seen a huge number of our test users telling us that avatars take 2 to 3 seconds to respond to a user click. Is there anyway we can speed up the path calculation? We are running on the Amazon cloud, and such latencies will kill user acceptance of our game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is that the path is calculated on the server. So that slows down everything significantly. We changed that and put it back into the client so now it is much faster.

How did you do that? Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. Would that be a configuration that I need to change?

I'm afraid you will need a source code license to do that...

The pathfinding routine was moved to the server-side due to the requirements of the runtime map editing feature. If you use it, moving the pathfinding to the client won't be easy.
