It is also using P2P and auto switching to hub and spoke if network is not good enough for P2P.

It also has commercial pricing.

Although I was just making some calcs, and the bandwidth based pricing of LCCS makes it a bit pricey it seems.

I understand a small instance is 32 bit, while larger instance are 64 bits...

This seems to me is capable of replacing RedBox.

I just ugraded seamlessly to red5 release 0.8 (0.9 RC1 is already out) by copying the lib folder over

In order to install Red5 on a different hardware, you have to move its folder to the new machine and share it, so that the RedBox extension can reach it. Finally you have to enter the path to this folder in the redbox.properties file contained in the SmartFoxServer main folder.

We are planning a redbox chat app (one performer many viewers, via Redbox cast manager), and was just wondering if there are any guidelines on the server and bandwidth requirements, eg

how to calculate required bandwidth / servers per number of users?
do we need terracotta for scaling only ...

Is this the way one can control the bandwidth used by a stream?

This would be important for us, because I am trying to calculate the bandwidth requirements for our Red5 enabled app. Or maybe can I set a kbps limit per stream on the Red5 server?

Perhaps Red5 will catchup, would that do any good given there is already some kind of integration between Red5 and Smartfox?

I would like to add it to init.d, or make sure that red5 starts together with sfs for a server restart.
